MotorTrend magazine reported this week that Volkswagen Jetta 2011 is now competing against its arch rivals (Corolla, Civic and Focus) for the title of the MotorTrend Car of the Year.

Why is this significant? Volkswagen made a few key adjustments in its Volkswagen Jetta strategy:

• 2011 Volkswagen Jetta is starts at $16,765. This represents a significant cut down from the previous “above-average” price range for Volkswagens
• 2011 Jetta has been redesigned to compete against slick designs of Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla
• Although, the interior quality has been chopped down to bring the price lower, Jetta base model is still nicely equipped inside

If 2011 Jetta wins the title of the MotorTrend Car of the Year – it will symbolize a big move for Volkswagen.  Just like Hyundai Genesis attracted a lot of attention in 2009 with its award – MotorTrend award for Jetta could be just a big.
